Everyday Styling: A Night At The Theater!

By Jax

A night out at the theater in Manhattan used to be a very fancy event, but now it's a little more relaxed.  That doesn't mean I'm gonna look super stylish!

I am obsessed with this white blazer I bought, and I've been going out of my way to create outfits around it.  It's about time it made it to this blog :p

Everyday Styling

By Jax

This weekend, I woke up on Sunday exhausted.  After a night of dancing, I was in desperate need of coffee!  I knew I needed to get dressed, and I immediately reached for my most favorite jeans.  Are they the most stylish jeans ever at this moment?  Nope, no they're not.  They're a slim-straight jean made by 7 For All Mankind that I bought years ago, and now look like a boot cut because the bottoms are so worn.  It's OK to throw on your favorite jeans, even if they're not the "in" style of the moment.  I also think this outfit is in the style of "boho chic", and skinny jeans just don't work with that style.

I also love that felt floppy hat, and I've been dying to wear it.  A day with no makeup and that "I haven't had my coffee" look is the perfect time to hide behind a hat.

The shoes are vintage from the 1960s, and the jacket was purchased second hand at Beacon's Closet!  The details on each part of the outfit are below.

Ah...it was just last weekend I was in the Dominican Republic!  Otherwise known as paradise!  I highly highly recommend a visit to any of the beaches located in the area as "La Romana."  Carribean sea, I miss you!

This perfect for the beach outfit was simply to put together.  The swimsuit underneath the dress was purchased LONG ago at Urban Outfitters, so there is no hope of finding a link to it.  However, I will note that it cost $96.00, but I still wear it years later...it's made of iron!

I realized that this was an outfit I wanted to share with all of you because I loved it so much, so all of the pieces are below.

Cloudy with a chance of cute?

I'm starting a new feature where I just take a picture of myself in my best outfits.  And then I'll post them here so you can see how I style the pieces I feature here on the blog!

Rainy days are no fun, but they get a little brighter if you put on cute clothes to brave the elements.

Primary colors pair well together, so don't be afraid to pair a deep red with a bright yellow.  Throw in a blue for some dark color anchoring.  White tights pair very well with yellow shoes. The trick with white patterned tights is to make sure you keep the maturity level up (ie more sophisticated fashionista, less schoolgirl chic.)

Coat: Banana Republic.  I purchased it a few years ago on sale for $119.99

Shoes: Urban Outfitters, $49.99, BUY IT

Tights: American Apparel, BUY IT

Dress: Vintage, purchased at Odd Twin for $36.00.  Check out their website here.

Umbrella: The street!  $5.00
