I saw this exact hat in a Brooklyn Boutique on Friday, and I ALMOST bought it, but I'm so glad I didn't, because that one was $36.00, and this is $16.00!
I also felt it was time to feature some non-wide brimmed hats. The trend extends to all hats you know...

In my on-going big hat phase, I keep on thinking: the bigger and floppier, the better!
Hats are also great for your non-shower day. They hide a bad hair day! They cover your hungover eyes! The fact that they just happen to be in style makes them all the better for these activities.

FASHION DEAL DIVA: Hats Off
While I'm not normally one for hats, I AM on for purple. It also went right back to freezing, so a hat continues to be an absolute necessity in the five boroughs (and I believe 3/4ths of the country????)

It's so cold in New York I almost started crying on my 1.5 block walk to the subway. Most of the south is covered in ice and snow. I hear portions of the Midwest are below 0 today. It's COLD!!!!

Vintage Vixen: Jaunty Hats
I love Kate Middleton. Lately with all the media attention surrounding the engagement, I've been able to fully appreciate her style. Subsequently, I've become obsessed with hats! She does it all- big brims, small brims, berets- and my feature today: light, jaunty hats with feathers and netting, or small hats that don't have a brim at all, but they definitely add a dimension of class and style to any outfit. In one of every five photos of Miss Middleton she is wearing a cute hat, cocked to the side, looking so chic! Too few young women wear hats. Often we fear they might fall into the category of looking like a costume, so we veer away from all but the necessary and useful winter hat. I want to change that! We might not all be future princesses, but we can stand proud and enjoy wearing a fashionable hat! Kate, thank you for the inspiration.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Fascinating.
I just got back from a wedding in Dublin and the Irish and English ladies at this black tie event really knew how to rock a hair fascinator. If you're like me, after seeing Four Weddings and a Funeral you've been dying to have a place to wear such things.

Despite sitting here writing during a particularly paralyzing heat wave in Los Angeles, I continue to plan and strategize the perfect fall wardrobe. This week's feature: wide brim hats! The fedora and the floppy wide brim hat are having a moment in popular fashion, and are also widely available in the vintage market. Yay! Hats are definitely a personal thing- you have to figure out which style works best with your face shape, head size, and general style, but when you've found a great one- wow! Get ready to turn heads. Here are a few favorite finds this week:
FEELING LIKE 1932 IN MY1970s gray wool hat. Price: $12.00.
Gray with a black ribbon can be easy-day to night- it is not too fancy and if you like denim or khaki, this hat will be a perfect topper.
Italian Made Vintage Fedora. Price: $28.00.
This hat looks great with this hair!! A style that could look masculine goes feminine in the right color and with the right hair- super sexy!
Caramel Mocha - A Fabulous 1960s Ladies Wool Felt Hat with Feather Accent. Price: $13.00.
Camel wool is a great trend for capes, coats and hats this fall. The feathers and the ribbon make this one absolutely unique and necessary.
Vintage Navy Blue Hat. Price: $12.00.
I like the story behind this French hat. Click through to read details. Would be extra cool if you have a "C" as an initial! Navy goes with everything and is basically a neutral in my mind. Love this hat!

I loved playing Carmen Sandiego when I was a kid and always thought she was so cool. Now I can relive my childhood fantasy!! The color and shape of this hat are great. Very modern. Very now.

This cloche has a distinct vintage vibe that could be really charming with the right outfit!

I'm a sucker for a good green. The leather band and perfect condition make this worth the extra few bucks. I see this hat with gray or black or camel. Could be a very versatile winter staple! Your hair can stay snow-free without a hood!

Italian made vintage wool hats by Lord and Taylor are sure to be a good investment. High quality and classic fashion is soooo worth the $29.00 this hat is listed at! I bet Lord and Taylor could be selling similar styles right now!!

Come Cloche(r) To Me
Are you a hat person? I'm not. Most don't look good on me. But it doesn't mean I'm not a hat lover!!!
I just need to find the RIGHT hat. I need to be discerning. I need to examine and try on many hats until I have a winner. I sense that this cloche is a winner. A Tip Of My Hat To You
I am growing my hair out for locks of love, and I am slowly coming to grips with the realization that my hair is going to be very short when I cut it in September. How am I gonna get over the loss of my beautiful locks? Lots and lots of hats that I could never wear with my long hair!
This red is going to be all over everything for fall (mark my words!) It's just so vibrant and full of life, and it pairs well with the fashion of the time.

Trapper Keeper
REALLY COLD.
An unheard of level of cold and unpleasant.
I broke down and bought this trapper hat. And I LOVE IT!
It covers my ears, keeps my head warm, and for some inexplicable reason, it makes me look really hot.
I am very against real fur, so no worries here ladies...it's faux!
