NOTE: I believe there has been some confusion so I need to state that this outfit is NOT meant for a lawyer. It was erroneously posted on a legal blog as an outfit for a lawyer, and I've been getting some angry comments from, I guess, lawyers? Rest assured...this outfit is for general folks who are just going to jail (and also this whole feature was written in jest...it was meant to be a joke and people take themselves WAY too seriously.)
Welcome to a new feature: Keepin' It Real! This feature is all about YOU! Did you make a spectacular outfit for a specific occasion and you want to share it with the world to show everyone your real-life fashion goodness? This is the place to do it!
It's a question probably none of us really think about, or ever want to answer: what is the perfect outfit to visit a prison? Yes fashionistas, one of us recently had to ponder, and answer that question, when she had to spring some bad boys out of the slammer.
You don't want to wear anything sexy to a jail (it's not exactly the time for that), but you need to look cute and a bit unassuming to make sure you get what you want!
This outfit says "ooh look how cute I am," while still saying that you are sharp as a tack and you mean business! That's a very hard balance to strike, and the outfit does it beautifully (and stylishly!)
The jeans are from Top Shop (the Baxter, at an affordable 40 Euros!), and the polka-dot shirt is from H&M.
I think that is the last thing I'd wear to a jail...ever. Especially in a professional legal sense.
ReplyDeletei don't believe jeans as tight as leggings are ever appropriate for an attorney or businesswoman - let alone when you're in prison.
ReplyDeletealso, wear a jacket -there's no need to be showing skin.
i think you still have a lot to learn.
I think there has been some confusion. You are not funny and your original post wasn't "clear," especially since David Lat linked to you with a tagline that clearly implied that this was meant for a lawyer.
ReplyDeleteIt's a joke people - get a sense of humor. Did you ever think that maybe Lat's reference to it was *sarcastic*?
ReplyDeletewhat a cute "i'm going to jail" outfit! though i might opt for baggy sweatpants and a hoodie, just so I wouldn't stand out.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic. I thik anything that isnt cut too low anywhere and looks professional will suffice in jails and prisons. One doesn't want to be harrassed but one also must be taken seriously to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteComing from someone who is both a lawyer and has been to jail prior to her legal career - this outfit will get the job done in style. Not everyone a lawyer bails out of jail is a potential client - sometimes she has to bail out family and friends.
ReplyDeletei don't know what's funny about wearing an outfit that says look at my arse to jail. and if "you mean business" - wear a suit!
ReplyDeleteAs the subject photographed in this post, I would like to state that I am not a lawyer. I am a professional musician who recently had to bail a couple of colleagues out of jail. After we got them out and ascertained that the situation was mild, I sent a picture of the outfit I put together to Fashion Deal Diva.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is clearly not intended for lawyers-only. FDD regularly posts funky jewelry, summer dresses, shorts, and casual menswear, and when she posts things that could be appropriate in the office, she points that out.
Carry on, FDD!
