KEEPIN' IT REAL: Birthday Shoes

My sister has a rather large chest, which makes it impossible to ever buy her clothing on her birthday. This also makes her a spectacular candidate for shoes as a birthday gift! Here are her feet, sporting the birthday shoes I bought her. My sis is not one for super high heels, but she said that these are surprisingly comfortable, and that she loves the way her feet look in them. (And how perfect they are for socks or stockings heading into fall!)

Annie Sez doesn't have an online store, so hop to their brick and mortar establishment to buy this pair!

KEEPIN' IT REAL: Fourth Of July

Red white and blue...put them in an ensemble together and you have an automatically patriotic outfit! Even more so if you do it within a week of the fourth of July.

This July 4th I have a black tie wedding in Baltimore (congrats Jeni and Craig!), so there is little room to be fashion patriotic in a full length gown. Instead, I decided to sport my fashion fourth fever today!

I don't post a lot from H&M on this blog, mainly because they don't have an online site. But the other night, I needed some retail therapy...and boy did I get it! H&M has a ton of cute stuff. I bought jeggings (crazy!) But I also bought this delightful dress. There is a wrap detailing in the front that you probably can't see, but what I love about it is that there is full skirt coverage and THEN the overlay of the fabric (this is a significant plus on a windy day!). The ruched sleeves are a good option for ladies who don't like going sleeveless, and I'm in love with the red belt accent (which came with the dress!)

Happy Fourth Of July :)

KEEPIN' IT REAL: How Stylishly Engaging

Recently, a fashionista named Lyndsey decided it was time to take the plunge and said "yes!" to her now fiancée when he recently proposed. While Lyndsey will no doubt jump off the diving board and into the marriage pool in wedding dress style, her fashion needs first required her to find a stunning dress for her engagement party.

An engagement party is a wonderful event where the bride-to-be should be the stunning center of attention. After all, how often do you have an engagement party (no, not you Liz Taylor, the average gal!) Lyndsey's favorite color is Pink, and being a blond, it suits her very well. Finding an elegant hot pink dress is...err....tough! But fashionista Lyndsey pulled it off and found this shape hugging dress on ModCloth. The hot pink skirt is a nice contrast to the sleek ivory bodice, complete with elegant bow detailing! The black straps tie in perfectly with the black waist color block.

Congrats again to Lyndsey and her future hubby!

KEEPIN' IT REAL: Jailbait

NOTE: I believe there has been some confusion so I need to state that this outfit is NOT meant for a lawyer. It was erroneously posted on a legal blog as an outfit for a lawyer, and I've been getting some angry comments from, I guess, lawyers? Rest assured...this outfit is for general folks who are just going to jail (and also this whole feature was written in jest...it was meant to be a joke and people take themselves WAY too seriously.)

Welcome to a new feature: Keepin' It Real! This feature is all about YOU! Did you make a spectacular outfit for a specific occasion and you want to share it with the world to show everyone your real-life fashion goodness? This is the place to do it!

It's a question probably none of us really think about, or ever want to answer: what is the perfect outfit to visit a prison? Yes fashionistas, one of us recently had to ponder, and answer that question, when she had to spring some bad boys out of the slammer.

You don't want to wear anything sexy to a jail (it's not exactly the time for that), but you need to look cute and a bit unassuming to make sure you get what you want!

This outfit says "ooh look how cute I am," while still saying that you are sharp as a tack and you mean business! That's a very hard balance to strike, and the outfit does it beautifully (and stylishly!)

The jeans are from Top Shop (the Baxter, at an affordable 40 Euros!), and the polka-dot shirt is from H&M.
