The very idea of a sheer, almost see-through sweater is an oxymoron. Sweaters are supposed to keep you warm, right? Then why would you want one that's sheer?
Here are some reasons I came up with on the subway.
1) If you live in a warm place (I'm looking at you, Texas and California!), then you're never going to have to put on a parka to go outside. So you probably don't want a heavy sweater either!
2) I don't know if this is the case in other cities, but in New York, EVERY place you walk into in the winter is boiling hot. They turn that heat right up! Every restaurant, every store, every bar. Just one giant winter sauna. So maybe you want the warmest winter coat and the best hat ever, but once you're inside...time to strip!
3) Do you love to layer? I LOVE to layer. As someone that is hot, then cold, then hot, then cold...I need to constantly add and remove clothing to monitor my temperature. A sheer sweater is a fabulous second-to-last layer (assuming you are throwing a camisole under there!)
