FASHION DEAL DIVA: My New Perfect Blazer

Urban Outfitters aptly named this blazer the "perfect blazer." I'm inclined to agree! Every outfit I put it with becomes more perfect.

It's always tricky when the weather is changing...do I put on a coat? Or do I just weave a jacket into the outfit that works in an ensemble and an outwear sense? This blazer kept me warm on a chilly night, but kept my outfit nice and hot.

Who Wears Too Short

I sometimes wear things that other people find horrifyingly short, but whatever! Half of fashion is knowing what your assets are and how to showcase them. I have legs, and I know how to use them.

Now that you know this, I introduce this "dress" that I bought from American Apparel a few weeks ago. Oh boy is it short. But it works in a totally appropriate way. I think if you're over 5'5, you PROBABLY can't wear this. Anyone else though and it's fair game!

I put a red belt on with it and it made the dress. Word to the wise: you must wear this with flats...it's not a dress for boots or heels!

Be Different

Hello there, different! You look, well, different than the other dresses!

You're a soft muted pink. You have a large intricate rosette paired with an understated series of ruffles. And yet you are so sleek and chic from behind.

What's that, you say? You're on sale??? How could this be possible? Well clearly, people are afraid to be different. But I'm not!

(And you shouldn't be either!)

Boss Of Tweed

Explore the wonderful world of colored tweed!

Tweed is always conservative. In any color, in almost any style, tweed is a conservative fabric and will be viewed as such. This makes wearing a pink tweed skirt 100% acceptable for the workplace.

All tweed is not created equal. If you look closesly at the tweed pattern of this skirt, you will see the intricate color variation that prevents the skirt from yelling "HELLO I AM PINK!"

I believe the skirt runs small so if you plan on buying it, check the customer reviews for sizing issues.

GUYS BUYS: Corduroy Sportcoat

A corduroy blazer is a great addition to any man's wardrobe. A lot of guys feel a bit uneasy about when and where they need to wear a blazer. The beauty of the corduroy blazer is that you can wear it with khakis or slacks to dress it up, but with jeans if you want to just look a little spiffier than normal on your Friday night.

Also, men always look better in a blazer. There, I said it!

Price: $98.00 (originally $148.00)

The Classic Trench Coat

It's raining cats and dogs today here in New York. I could hear it when I woke up this morning, and then every moment after that until I walked out the door was spent dreading the elements. If only I had a trench coat!

Even though I was using an umbrella, my normal winter coat was soaked. Probably because whatever wool/cashmere blend it is isn't meant for a trip in the rain. There is something magical about a trench coat in the rain. You just don't feel as soaked. And even if you do get wet, you're looking so stylish you maybe don't care quite as much.

Although the picture is a tan trench coat, I personally would go for the black, and I also support the choice of the red. What matters here is not color, but brand and fit. London Fog are masters of the trench coat. I like a double-breasted trench coat because it looks sleeker. And finally, that's a great belt :)

Frockin' Amazing!

I reserve the word "frock" to describe only those dresses that are the most sparkly, the most ruffly, and the most party appropriate dresses on the market. These are the dresses that use miles of tulle and satin! The dresses that say "hey now, hold on a minute, we can do this BIGGER!" The party frock is my favorite species of the genus clothing.

This dress is the definition of the party frock. Feminine and delicate, yet flashy and glamorous, this dress is ready to party with you wherever you go. What's this, you say? You have a black tie gala, a Christmas party, and your friend's birthday party in a Bushwick dive bar, ALL IN THE SAME NIGHT? The party frock can exist at all three! More than exist, THRIVE!

If you desire to be the center of attention, this is the fastest way to do it.

Party on, frock!

Sparkly McSparkles

I tried this dress on and it looked great. It is flashy and glam and everything I love when something has sequins on it. The picture does not do the dress justice! What I love most about the dress is that the design and color of the sequins makes the dress look different from alternate angles. It's a great effect! It sort of makes you a human disco ball (in a good way!)

Although Forever21 calls it a "dress," it's more like a long shirt, so I would advise wearing it with either opaque tights or black leggings.

Little Black Dress

A friend of mine in college described the little black dress as follows: "You should be able to wear it to class, and then to dinner, and then for drinks at a rooftop bar, and then when you're leaving a guy's apartment the next day, you should be able to wear it for whatever you have to do the following day. If you carry the right accessories in your bag, no one will know you were wearing the same dress."

The little black dress should be the cornerstone of your wardrobe. It should be the item of clothing that you turn to when you look in your closet and say "I have nothing to wear." I think everyone should have MORE than one black dress. And this dress is a great option. It's a great price, too.

Love the little black dress :)

Christmas Shimmer

You either like Jacquard or you don't. For those folks out there who love deconstructed dresses with zero shape, you probably put on a jacquard dress and start screaming, "HELP! HELP! I AM BEING CONSTRICTED BY A DRESS PRISON!!!" But if you like a more fitted, stiff fabric, then Jacquard should be your best friend.

I think black Jacquard looks cheap, but in any other color, particularly ivory and silver, it comes off looking very classy. It's also another fashion chameleon...wear it with diamond earrings to go glam! Or put it with a jean jacket to tone it down. But either way, the dress adapts to the crowd you are with.

It should be noted that this dress has a spectacular waist line. It's trying very hard to make sure the wearer has a nice shape.

Apparently, Searle Is Having A Cashmere Sweater Firesale!

Before you freak out about the picture, I am advising you buy this sweater in ANY OTHER AVAILABLE COLOR OTHER THAN THIS ONE. But this was the only photo I had.

Searle roundneck cashmere sweater. Was originally $329.00. Now? $99.00. That's 70% off. I'm a total sucker for cashmere.

It's a basic, cashmere sweater. I don't think I need to say anything else because the deal speaks for itself :)
