FRUGAL FIANCÉE: BHLDN Decorations.

I have been a fan of BHLDN (Anthropologie's bridal line) since it came out and their new Decor items are no exception. The table numbers above are stylish and you can't tell from the photo but they are letterpress which, if you had done custom just for you, would be much more expensive than $40. Here's to looking like you had a personal Wedding stylist without paying for one!

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Royal Icing.

Welcome to Royal Wedding Week! Seeing as there is expected to be more than one billion (with a "b") viewers of this event, I'll be posting this week about the Royal Wedding and themes you can take from their wedding to yours.

Has Dunkin' Donuts ever made a special donut for you? I doubt it; but they have made the above donut in honor of the Royal Wedding this week! From the company's press release: "The heart signifies the love between Prince William and Catherine, and the donut is filled with jelly to represent how their lives are to be ever-filled with happiness. The white frosting is reminiscent of the traditional white wedding gown, and the chocolate drizzle is symbolic of William’s love for chocolate."

Donuts are becoming a wedding trend in general, giving the "cupcake" idea a run for its money. If you are going to serve donuts at your reception i'd shy away from the desire to stack them up as a tiered wedding cake (it might not come out the way you pictured it), and find some cute boxes or trays to display them in.

HOMEY HONEY: Hoppy Easter!

By: Amanda I love Easter and I love still getting an Easter basket. I found these cute baskets on sale at Pottery Barn Kids, even if you have outgrown the basket thing these little guys can add some hoppiness (ha!) to your home. You can use these as decoration or as a gift. I just think they are way too cute to pass up. Who knows? Maybe if you leave it out the Easter bunny will leave a treat!

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Herbal Favors.

I've been looking for favors that make your guests feel welcomed and thanked but don't end up in a junk drawer, landfill, or recycling bin. The flower/plant wedding favor trend has been around for a while and I love the little seed favors above.

You can choose from a number of different types of seeds (flowers, herbs, etc) and you get 100 of them along with boxes, ribbon, and an insert card. Some assembly required but it feels worth it for some inexpensive, eco-friendly, useful favors.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Ce N'est Pas Une Moustache

Have you ever seen awesome photobooth pictures from a wedding and wondered where people got all those fake moustaches? Well here is an answer to that question.

For less than $2 you and your friends can take pics with an oldtimeybartender-cum-hipster moustache and laugh for HOURS about how silly your Aunt Ida looks with a furry lip.

Maro Designs also makes cute, custom thought bubbles to add to your wedding photobooth prop kit.

HOMEY HONEY: Here To Stay

I love Valentine's Day (I am sure many will disagree), but I love every holiday because it gives me an excuse to decorate. I was searching through Urban Outfitter's Valentine's collection and found this rug. It says "Please don't go". Even if you don't celebrate Valentine's Day, you could still use this rug as a doormat, because who likes to see anyone go? I also really liked the idea of a leaving mat instead of the typical welcome mat.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Stuck On You.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on wedding favors (and I certainly don't) consider ordering some custom-made stickers to put on your not-that-expensive-but-really-thoughtful favors.

This way you don't have to spend all this money on mint tins with your names on them, you can stick a sticker on the box of something you bought in bulk and make it look like they were custom made for you.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Glowing Table Numbers

Table numbers can become part of a centerpiece in lots of ways. I am always looking for a sophisticated way to guide guests to their tables that isn't too expensive and doesn't involve hours of time with a glue gun.

These candle lanterns are great for that and they are only $1.15 per lantern and are available in several colors.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Kissing Birds.

I know I've already posted bird cake toppers but two little happy love birds sitting on top of a cake is such a cute idea and these ones are not just cute but also made from sustainable poplar wood, so you won't have to worry about creating more disposable plastic items in the world.

Urastarhouse from Etsy will make these in any color you'd like and can also add in some baby birds to complete your family picture if you'd like.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Birds of a Feather

Non-traditional cake toppers are all the rage and I think this one of two love-birds is really cute. Additionally they are hand made which adds an extra touch.

They look like they might just be saying "I love you" in bird speak. :)

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Double-Duty Bouquets

I confess that I get many of my wedding ideas from my friends who have had weddings over the past couple of years, and today's post is no exception. Above we have a bridal bouquet doing double-duty as an elegant centerpiece. Just stick that puppy in a tall vase and you are done.

This can be done with the other ceremony flowers as well, saving you money and still maintaining an elegant wedding look. If you really want to save, purchase your flowers in bulk from somewhere like Pro Flowers and assemble the bouquets yourself.

Price: $110 for 50 Calla Lilies vs. $180 for one bridal bouquet and groom boutonniere.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Paper Lanterns? Please Do.

I have seen many wonderful wedding photos that feature paper lanterns. The soft glow from the light always seems to "shine" on anyone in the picture and the lanterns make a lovely way to decorate any outdoor space, tent, or barn. [Confession: I really wish I was getting married in a barn.]

Fortunately, decorating with paper lanterns can be very cheap. You can get one just like the lantern feature above from the Paper Lantern Store for $0.80 (not a typo) and pick up one of their multiple-socket cords for around $14.00.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: L-O-V-E on a Triple Word Score. (21 points.)

Well I must love you all because I'm sharing with you my favorite wedding decoration secrets as I continue to write this blog. I am one of the many Scrabble-obsessed Americans and I think the Scrabble signs above are a wonderful, inexpensive way to decorate your cake table, bar, or guestbook table.

Credit for the photo above goes to Style Me Pretty and Terra and Paul's photographer, but you can do this EASILY at your own wedding.
