At the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday there were SO many beautiful looks, ideas, and trends. I loved seeing so many black dresses. Black is so classic, elegant, timeless, and also my personal favorite color. Some may say that black is too safe, but it doesn’t have to be if you pair it with great jewelry or a pair of foxy pumps to liven up the look.
My favorite dress of the night, however, wasn’t black. It was the Oscar De La Renta dress, worn by Lea Michele.
A beautiful navy blue asymmetrical ruffle skirt strapless gown. (Try saying that ten times quickly.) Simply gorgeous.
Clearly, this isn’t a look that we could wear every day. Or ever, unless you have tickets to a ball (in which case, do you need a plus one?), or you happen to be invited to an Awards Show (again, plus one? me?).
So, I decided that instead of trying to find a dress that strongly resembles this gown, I would opt for finding a dress inspired by this one, but more casual so that you could find a non-awards-show use for it.

Now, back to black.
Heidi Klum looked absolutely gorgeous in a Marchesa little black dress. So much so that it has people saying that black is back. I was unaware that black had gone anywhere, but we definitely saw a black trend on Sunday, with not only Heidi Klum going for black, but also Eva Longoria, Kelly Osbourne, among others.
