All of a sudden, socks are getting expensive. The minute socks become an "in" item, suddenly a pair is running at $8.00 if you want a fun color or pattern. I understand paying something in the neighborhood of $10.00 for a unique pattern or style, but for solid colors, I just have to say (and pardon my language)...wtf???

FASHION DEAL DIVA: Cascade

I recently went shopping in the Comfy Coquette's closet (she was giving quite a few things away, and I took advantage!) I ended up pulling out a black silk top with long sleeves and a very similar ruffle scheme to the one pictured here.

My initial worry when I picked out the top was that it wouldn't look good tucked into stuff because of the cascading ruffle. But it works! Better than I ever imagined. The tucked-in ruffle (which I wore with a light gray pencil skirt) adds a little bit more style and body to an otherwise just plain silky shirt. This shirt is another great cascading ruffle top that will look equally good tucked into your pencil skirts.

For those of you unfamiliar with St. John, they specialize in classic pieces (generally suits, but also dresses and blazers) that are fashion forward for any decade. St. John's stuff from the 60's, 70's and 80's is just as relevant as any clothing you'd find on a rack today.

So when you see the ridiculous price tag for this blazer, acknowledge first that: 1) this is "cheap" for St. John's, and 2) this is something that you can wear for the rest of your life (providing you don't gain weight!)

I love the magenta/houndstooth combo. Although the model is wearing it with black pants, It would look equally good with a black skirt or dress, or even dark blue jeans.

When I went to Fashion's Night Out, one of the accessories I won in the Lord & Taylor fashion wheel was a bright green Kensie shoulder warmer. Let me start by saying that I didn't know this was a shoulder warmer until I saw this shoulder warmer, and then it clicked in my brain. Until then, I was wearing it as a scarf, or a scarf/hat combo, or even using it to warm my hands and feet.
