FRUGAL FIANCÉE: What Were They Thinking?

McDonald's wedding complete with Apple Pie Cake.
Those are bridesmaid's dresses made out of balloons for a McDonald's Wedding.

I'll admit to at one time liking McDonald's Hot Apple Pie, a processed, dessert-like product that will burn your mouth like hot lava if you don't let it cool properly, but a wedding at a McDonald's really isn't what I was thinking of when I chose "Frugal Fiancee" as the name for this feature.

I'm not lovin' it

Might be a tad too short for a bridesmaid dress, what do you think?

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Sailor Made.

Man, I almost wish I hadn't chosen bridesmaid dresses yet because I think these two dresses above from Anthropologie are great as summer bridal party wear.

The straps are wide enough to give the top structure (not like a skinny spaghetti strap) and the flaps and buttons on the bodice have a wonderful retro feel. Go with all yellow, all blue, or have a couple ladies in each color.

THE FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Veiled Inspiration

Welcome blog readers to a new feature by me, the Frugal Fiancée!

I have spent a lot of time scouring the internet for fashionable wedding ideas that won't bust my own wedding budget, and so each week I will post about something that's a wedding fashion deal to share the fruits of my internet searching with you all. This week: the caged veil.

Shortly after becoming engaged, my married friends unloaded their bridal magazines on me and I was taken by this new trend of birdcage or caged veils. I think they are classic, but fun, and add a new "fashion-forward" dimension to the old lace veil. You can find these at any bridal shop and pay $500 to $1000...or you could buy one from TessaKim at Etsy for $26. The veil pictured above is one of my favorites and comes in several different colors.

Here's a tip for the wedding day: during the ceremony, wear the veil as shown in the picture and before the reception, take it out, turn that clip around, and wear the veil with the lace facing the back to have some cute flair in your bridal hair.
