FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Twosie.

By Lyndsey

I've been to several weddings where the bride wore two dresses: a ceremony dress and a reception dress. I can see how the idea of two dresses can make your head spin since just ONE costs an arm and a leg, so, what about a two-sie dress? I know it sounds a bit frightening but the reviews on the dress above have been great.

You get a long, dramatic look for the ceremony and then a cute, short number to party the night away in. Love (x2).

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Princess Catherine.

She looks effortlessly stunning! I love the Grace Kelly inspired dress and doesn't she look a tad like Audrey Hepburn? I can't wait for this trend to continue, as princesses so, so goes bridal fashion!

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Busting Out.

I don't speak from experience, but if you are blessed with a full bust, strapless dresses just might not be the way you want to go for your wedding. Some could fit well, others you'll be pulling up all night long and that's no good.

The dress above has a strapless-like sillouhette but has little straps to keep the girls up and some lace in the cleavage line to make sure you can show just the right amount on your wedding day.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: VERA WANG at David's Bridal, say wha?

This is what you've been waiting for. This dress makes me feel like floating away on a cloud (which is often how Vera dresses make me feel) and the fact that it is at David's Bridal for a FRACTION of what her dresses normally cost, makes me absolutely ecstatic. Snatch this up ladies!

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Lacy Lacy.

At first glance, I didn't love this dress. Then I zoomed in on the detail and saw the back of it and I realized it is an AWESOME dress and that they just need a better photographer. All over lace with a long bow in the back somehow works here.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Revisted Dresses, New Markdowns.

Remember these dresses I wrote about over the past few months?

Well, they are an even better deal now with new markdowns. If you want a serious deal on a great dress, shopping last springs fashions now is a good idea. These are great if you are on a serious budget; you don't have to sacrifice style when you are looking for a bargain.

Price: From the top, $119.99, $169.99, and $249.99 respectively.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Pretty Sweet.

Once again, please look past the model's expression (and the fact that the dress doesn't fit her that well) and see the beauty in this very reasonably priced dress. For less than $500 you get an embroidered bodice with an interesting design (not just a bedazzled-looking embellishment) and a flowy a-line silhouette. Sweet and pretty.

FRUGAL FIANCEE: Little Snowshower.

Nevermind that the model's expression makes her look like she just saw a ghost, this dress is dreamy and lovely. Perfect for a January-February-March wedding with a romantic feel. The taffeta swirls around her like a happy little snowshower. (Pardon if I've been influenced by the mass amounts of snow outside my window!)

FRUGAL FIANCEE: Short Show.

A short dress may not be right for winter but this little number is wonderful in spring and summer. Satin with beaded flowers on the bodice that don't shout but whisper elegance.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Effortlessly Stunning.

I realized it's been a while since I posted a bridal gown I just plain love. This dress is perfect for the bride who wants effortless style and is not into ballgowns; it has feminine tulle but isn't in the princess-dress theme. Affordable and delicate? Perf!

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: J. Crew Bridal Sale

Okay well it might not be a bridal sale but it is a fall sale with 25% off all orders of $150 or more which means this dress can be bought at a serious discount, as can all their bridal wear.

Despite another slouching bridal model, I like this dress. The top is fitted enough for contrast between the skirt and if you buy a cheaper dress, throw some of that savings into tailoring and it will look perfect on you.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Buy This Dress.

I say "buy this dress" because it must be worn by someone on their wedding day. It is very soft and pretty but not plain. The handmade flowers on the bodice are interesting and definitely not just a cookie-cutter, let's-slap-more-stuff-on-this-dress-to-try-to-make-it-fancy kind of embellishment like so many that I've seen out there. This is handmade and stunning, so what are you waiting for?

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Shorty Chic.

I have started to turn the corner on short wedding dresses because I have seen many that do look fancy enough to be wedding dresses and short dresses are cheaper. See, e.g., Exhibit A, the above dress from Sue Wong. Whether this is your "cake cutting" dress or the one you walk down the aisle in, you'll be making a big fancy statement.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Grecian Gown

This dress is another goddess dress but I think I like this one more than other goddess dresses. The detail-bow on the asymmetric shoulder is very interesting and, if you like the Grecian look, this is a good dress.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Slim and Sexy

This dress is a great cut if you are looking for a slim, tailored look on your wedding day. I really like how the skirt/ train fills out in the back and the deep-V is very sexy. This is also a good dress for people who are not "well endowed" and don't want to rock a strapless dress.

FRUGAL FIANCÉE: Cake Cutting Dress

Quail Bridal, the designer of this dress, calls this a "cake cutting" dress: something to change into half-way through the reception. I think a bold bride could even wear this as her one-and-only dress.

I'm in love with the combination of tulle and a short dress and the bow certainly makes a loud announcement that you are the special one here.
