DEAL OF THE DAY: Contest Winner!

Hello fashionistas! It's time to announce the contest winner!

Let's recap this week's challenge:

A BLUE DAY DRESS

There were only seven submissions this time (my guess is because this one was a BIT harder than finding a black mini-skirt!) So I'm only going to have a top two.

Coming in Second Place is....Lyndsey Cholak! For this dress from J.Crew.





















This dress is an absolutely beautiful dress. Lyndsey did not win because it was not beautiful, but more because of two key things. First, I asked for a "day" dress, and even though this dress is cotton, it's on the fancier side. I would not wear this to shoot the sh*t with my friends. However, I am probably going to wear it to a wedding this summer :p And second, J. Crew describes the color as "dark periwinkle," but it's KIND OF bordering on lavender. So, beauty and style aside, this dress has to get second place.

Our winner of the contest is.....KATHLEEN HALE! For this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress






















Here are the reasons I like it. First off, the geometric fabric overlay and the button detailing is very Marc Jacobs. Sometimes you pay a lot of money for a designer dress and it could have easily been found at Forever21. Here, I think the "Marc" elements are front and center and obvious.

Second, I love this blue. It doesn't look good on everyone, but it's bright and springy and probably would pair well with a big straw hat!

Third, it has pockets! And it's cotton! It's perfect for the day time.

DEAL OF THE DAY: Contest Winner!

First of all, I want to congratulate those who submitted black mini skirts for the contest! Every single one of the submissions was a stylish black skirt that I would buy in a heartbeat! This made choosing a winner difficult.

Also, a very special THANK YOU to Tulip Gifts for donating the prize for today's winner! The jewelry prize is featured above.



Coming in third place is Stacy Tillett, with this submission.










You can't go wrong with denim. It's versatility is great, and of course I love anything Paige premium, so I'm in love with this skirt. Since I have an addiction to denim skirts, I'm sure this will be in my bluefly cart in no time :p

Coming in second place is Mellie Russo with this submission.





















This skirt captures everything going on stylewise right now. Ruffles? Yes. Chiffon? Of course! And it's all available for under $20? You betcha!

First off, the skirt is only $32.99, down from it's original price tag of $108.00. Second, I love the asymetrical wrap effect and the hem embellishment. The slight flashiness of the skirt allows it to be the star, and that's tough for a black mini skirt, which is usually the ensemble base (not always an exciting place to be!) Third, it's by BCBG Generation, a strong label that is coming out with some really great stuff right now.

CONTEST: Deal of the Day!

I am announcing this week's Deal Of The Day Contest! What is this contest, you ask???

Once a week, I will give you a deal challenge. I will ask you to find the best deal on a particular item (i.e. a pair of red pumps, a pink cotton day dress, etc.) Submissions will be due by 11:00 pm PST on Wednesday night.

I will judge the winning submission on four criteria:
1. Style: Is it awesome?
2. Accomplishment: Does it successfully complete the challenge?
3. Price: Obviously, it has to be a deal, ladies!
4. Designer: I will value more those deals that come from better designers (but this is definitely not the key factor).

The winner of the challenge will get a different item of jewelry every week! This week's jewelry will be provided by Tulip Gifts!
