A night out at the theater in Manhattan used to be a very fancy event, but now it's a little more relaxed.  That doesn't mean I'm gonna look super stylish!

My work wardrobe has a decidedly 1960s/70s slant.  So when wide leg, high-waisted pants came back into style, my mind immediately thought of the cute round-necked jackets and blazers a la Jackie O.

The blazer above is just screaming to be paired with your wide leg pants in the office.  Like skirts instead?  It will go as perfectly with a pencil.  A big white bead necklace would be the ideal pairing.

For those of you who live in the Northern U.S. (and other parts of the world where temps are still on the chilly side), April requires a jacket.  I've never seen a tweed bomber jacket, and like most tweed items, I totally love this!  I think it's more of a fall jacket, but you can totally wear it for spring with the right bottoms, and then you have a two season value!

FASHION DEAL DIVA: Cropped Denim

I have a cropped denim jacket that I found on the sale rack at Old Navy years ago, and I LOVE IT!  I find myself wearing it so much more than I ever imagined, and it looks great with everything.

I don't see many normal, cropped denim jackets (usually they are in a weird wash, etc.), so I highly recommend this light-washed one from Forever 21!

This "French Girl" blazer looks a little bit more British to me, but regardless of which country it comes from, it's pretty and delicate and I am drawn to shiny gold buttons!

The piping on the pockets and the collar adds a nice, young touch to an otherwise sophisticated blazer.

I have always wanted a white trench coat, and my dream became affordable last weekend at Daffys!

I have to be in a certain kind of mood for a trip to Daffys.  A mood where I am ready to pick through lots of crap to find the designer gem in the pile.  I walked into Daffys, rolled up my sleeves, and got ready for a few hours of insanity.

Just 6 steps into the store, I saw....an entire rack of recently acquired trench coats!  Tons of sizes, tons of colors!!!!  It just goes to show you, Daffys doesn't have to be the store you always have to search through...sometimes it's perfect and nice and wonderful.  It's the luck of the draw!

The minimalist classics of Helmut Lang never grow old.  In college, I spend $75.00 on a white t-shirt that fit me better than any t-shirt I've ever tried on, and looked good years later after way too many washings (it met it's untimely demise when a red dress accidentally found its way into the wash, and I'm still sad about it.)

To find another superior classic from Helmut Lang on a super sale brought back all these wonderful memories of my favorite white t-shirt!  Maybe I can start new memories with my favorite black blazer???

Unless you plan to grow taller, or wider (and you control that one!), you should not be worried about plunking down a lot of money for a good blazer.

FASHION DEAL DIVA: Everyday Styling

Cloudy with a chance of cute?

I'm starting a new feature where I just take a picture of myself in my best outfits.  And then I'll post them here so you can see how I style the pieces I feature here on the blog!


Rainy days are no fun, but they get a little brighter if you put on cute clothes to brave the elements.

Primary colors pair well together, so don't be afraid to pair a deep red with a bright yellow.  Throw in a blue for some dark color anchoring.  White tights pair very well with yellow shoes. The trick with white patterned tights is to make sure you keep the maturity level up (ie more sophisticated fashionista, less schoolgirl chic.)

I love the uber-preppy look the model is rocking in the photo, and yes, this is all from Urban Outfitters!  I really think the next "hipster" clothing phase is going to be uber preppy, and I CAN'T WAIT!
